The sword appeared unholy in itself. The crosspiece was the shape of bat wings, and a bat head made the hilt. It was black and red, and double-edged. Runes were all over it, but one thing stood out the most about it...
There was the same haunting symbol that was on Xaro's arms. Only one had the intelligence to do it in a swift and silent manner. The nightmare...
...Dreadwing.

The bright rays of red and orange fell upon the Princess's fragile face. Her soft blue eyes held sorrow as she opened them. Pressing a sweaty hand upon her forehead she could feel the heat radiate. The shock had almost felt like a dream, a very realistic one. She couldn't bring herself to stand out of bed.
"Princess Zelda," Impa, the Princess's nursemaid, quietly whispered. She pressed a really pale white hand on the tender shoulder of her Princess. "I need to dress you."
The Princess Zelda turned over to face her mother figure. Her glossy blue eyes felt weak. The shiekah tearfully brought her hand to the Princess's cheek caringly.
"Oh dear girl, you poor girl," she whispered motherly. "We need to announce to the kingdom what has happened to your father."
"Impa… I need my army," Zelda stated darkly, a forceful fiery look in her eyes. She stood slowly from the large oak bed with satin sheets. "I will avenge my father."

The Shadow Temple was like a fortress now, with powerful undead prowling the halls like cats on the hunt. Dreadwing was fully prepared, and knew what the consequences were. She had her trump card sitting there, chained up, and "interrogated", as it were. The woman knew what she had done, and relished in it! Now the goddesses can't do crap about this! She took their absence as an advantage.
She smirked, "Let the prey come to me..." Evil laughter filled the halls, and practically scared Kakariko Village into hiding.

The Princess stared long and hard at her army. She watched as they trained, swords slashing against one another. She would have to announce to everyone the news about her father. This meant she was Queen of Hyrule, but what was a Queen without her King?
Sighing, Zelda watched as one of her knights fell painfully on his behind. Turning away from her training army, she began her way down the corridors of Hryule castle.
"Impa!" she called, hoping her nursemaid was close. She sought out the nearest guard, "Have you seen my nursemaid? Kind sir?"
The knight shifted his sword from his right to left hand, "Um… no Princess Zelda. You might want to check the kitchen."

Dreadwing's face still had that smirk, "The Shadow Temple is MINE! It is my fortress! Speaking of fortress...is that Shadow Fortress ready yet?!"
An undead soldier, or a ghoul, crawled up and saluted, "No, Death Mistress, but it shall be ready soon."
"Good. See to it that it is operational within the time it takes for them to be prepared. Make it fly!"
"Yes, Death Mistress," the ghoul scampered off, eager to please. Xaro overheard the entire thing...he had to get out of these chains and out of this place! The matter at hand was...
How to get this damned Inverse Mouth-Trap off his face before his skull was crushed? This was more difficult than last time...

A perfect portrait of a beautiful maiden; the Princess sat in front of her vanity brushing her long golden blonde hair. Impa had been nowhere in sight and Zelda was in no mood to go looking for her nursemaid.
"Damn that Xaro," Zelda angrily shouted to herself. "If only I had killed that son of a-"
The pale white older woman opened the door. Impa gave Zelda a warning glare as she entered the room. "Now Zelda watch your language. No words of those should be spoken from a Queen."
"Okay Imp-" Zelda began, but was once again cut off by Impa.
"Not okay your highness!" the older woman shook her head in distaste. "Yes."
Zelda glared at herself in the mirror. If Impa had not been a mother figure for her, she would have snapped her head off. No one talked to Zelda like that except for her father and Impa. Zelda's mother had died when the Princess was at a young age, so Impa had always been there for her.

Something bright and red shot through the window, screaming in fright. The voice was male, but it was really tiny...almost like...
A fairy?
The fairy smacked against the wall, looking almost like a flattened bug. This fairy has two pairs of wings, like any other fairy...but they were bat-like instead of bug-like. He also had a long red tail, longer than he was, and an arrow tip was at the end of the tail.
"Ouch..." Was all he said, and he was still stuck to the wall like a fly on flypaper, "Can someone get me down? Please?"

"I'm not ready to be Queen!" the Princess slammed her hands down on the wooden vanity. The sadness and anger in her eyes caused the nursemaid to shake her head. So much anger for someone so young; Zelda would be bitter unless she was saved.
"You are ready for anything," Impa declared honestly. "You are a great ruler, you will save this kingdom. Do not worry Princess."
"But Impa," Zelda interjected skeptically. "I do not have a king! I do not have a prince! I do not have someone to… have a heir with!"
Impa shook her head amused, "You're Queen Zelda now. You have many years to find your heir."
"The kingdom will be in panic if I do not reproduce Impa!" the Princess panicked herself. "What will I say to them? They wont believe that I can take care of this kingdom on my own!"
"Make them believe," Impa quietly whispered cautiously. "You're as strong as you wish to be Zelda. You can run this whole kingdom with one finger."

Rage managed to peel himself off the wall and listened in, fading his glow to become really dull. THIS was what they slingshooted him up here for? Wait, he had to remember his mission...
Why did they believe in Totem's "juju" crap, anyway?! He was just an old wolf that stank of grass and potions. Sure, their friend was in trouble and they needed help, but couldn't they just go in there without an army behind their backs, and without the use of Totem's scrying pool?
He realized that he was muttering to himself too loud, and quickly clapped his jaw shut.

Pink fabric descended along the princess's body, white lace and designs of the trifroce along it in gold. A white finger was placed against the pale cheek of the princess as she thought about her next move. Xaro had said that this evil lied in a forest of some sort.
An ivory hand pressed against the princess's shoulder, "Princess Zelda."
The princess's golden hair flipped as she turned to face the speaker. It was Drake Meyez, a warrior. He smiled apologetically at the princess before pivoting to stand next o her.
"My men have been training for years and our ancestors have fought in your kingdom for centuries," Drake stated informatively. "Where do we head out to Princess?"
Zelda smiled, "You've known me since birth Drake, call me Zelda. On another note, I'm still trying to remember where that boy said this growing evil was."
"Zelda…" he whispered to himself. "When you remember we will move out."
The princess shook her head distraught, "She had a bat with fangs or something. Red eyes. I just can't remember."
"It's alright princess. Take your time," said Drake appreciatively. "I'll be waiting for your orders in training."

The Imp Fairy knew that Hyrule Castle was big...but not THIS big! It was bigger inside than out. Or was it vise versa? He couldn't tell. Now that he was inside, he needed to deliver a message. Both good and bad messages... Where was the princess?
SMACK!
He flew too low and found her, although hitting her shin head on wasn't finding her. "Ow."

The princess grabbed her head as the tiny fairy made impact. The fairy screamed in agony as the princess massaged the spot he hit. She looked down and picked him up in her hand quickly.
"Hello…" she greeted confused.

"Hello Your Majesty. Name's Rage. I bring two messages, one good, one bad, so, which do you want first?"
This fairy was right to the point. Not only that, but he was brief about it. He didn't look like a normal fairy...although he was the same size as the Lost Woods fairies. He also felt hot, body temperature-wise.

Good and bad news. The princess wondered who sent him. It must have been someone knowing what was going on in the palace, since no one else was informed about the war yet. It was strictly said that no one should spread word yet.
"Give me bad then good," the princess muttered to the fairy.

"Here's the bad."
He pulled out a heavy red orb and tossed it in the air. What materialized in front of them was an image of their very enemy, Dreadwing. The image spoke, "Attention, Queen of Hyrule. I demand your entire kingdom as well as everything else you own. Refuse my ransom, and I will blow your entire kingdom sky-high, along with your allies! All will burn!"
Rage raised a red eyebrow at this as the image paused, then continued, "If you do not comply, you shall witness the power of my fully armed and operational SHADOW FORTRESS SOON ENOUGH!"
She sounded mad... The image winked out, the ball bouncing harmlessly to the floor. Rage shuddered and slowly turned around, "You want the...good news now...? By the goddesses, she creeps me out..."
