I was trembling beneath the brown cloak that sheltered my body. If anybody were to discover that I had left the castle, I would be in more trouble than I desired. My father would send out horseman, guards, and maybe the Hyrulean army to come find me. Then I would be grounded for a few weeks, which was nothing new. Even when I was not grounded, I sat in my room and stared out my long crystal windows.
Coughing, I bumped into a stranger. Mumbling an apology I continued on my way past the small shops. My feet splashed in the cold wet puddles. Rain was drizzling down upon my porcelain skin. Glancing upward, the tiniest sheer of ice rain down my cheek.
"What am I doing here?" I questioned myself. Nowhere to go and no purpose, it was kind of pointless to leave castle grounds. I don't have friends outside of the castle. I new numerous of people, but they were merely nobles. Commoners or the poor I had rarely spoken to. However, the reason for the cloak was because everyone knew who I was.
At this moment I was left with sorrow. Deciding to head back towards the castle. I might as well talk to Impa or sit out in the courtyard.

This wet and rainy day was nothing special particularly for a zora. I liked the dampness of it all, but the day just felt gloomy and restless. There must be something to do around the busy streets of Hyrule castle town market, but what exactly? Not many zora’s do come around these parts. A few have, but only for business of some sort. Perhaps I could visit a few shops and buy something for home?
The chatter and haste of Hyrule Market was always the same, no matter what weather it was. I carried a small wrap around my body just for show, even though it really did not help in this rain. As I pondered on what to do in this marketplace, I saw a figure walking slowly toward the Hyrule Castle.
I wondered if she had permission to enter the castle. If I wasn’t allowed to go, I certainly don’t think she would be allowed. The people of Hyrule didn’t think that I, Princess Ruto of the Zoras, was noble enough to enter the castle without special permission. Well, since I believed that this decision is not fair at all, I decided to stop the figure and ask her what her business was heading toward Hyrule Castle. This figure didn’t look very ‘important’ in my eyes, so she would surely be stopped by the guards and sent back home.
As I walked up to the figure dressed in the brown cloak, I began to bring to a halt her travel toward the castle. “Um, excuse me miss…..?” I quickly put across something to get her attention so she would stop and turn around.

Turning to the speaker I could perceive that she was a Zora by her blue legs. On the other hand, I couldn't get a glance of her face do to the rain and what was draped over her shoulders. For some reason I recognized her voice, I'm not sure from where, but I know I have heard it before.
I tightened the strings around my cloak and searched to make sure none of my blonde hair was showing. Once I was positive that I did not look like the Princess I spoke.
"Yes?"
I'm not sure the reason she wanted to speak with me. Maybe she had recognized me? I hope not, that would ruin everything. My father would be furious and I wouldn't see the sun for months.

I looked at the figure and thought that she truly did not look like royalty at all. Why was she heading toward the castle? Her cloak was on her so tightly, so her voice was very muffled. But for some reason, the voice did sound somewhat familiar. Maybe this person did have special permission to enter the castle? Nonetheless, I was still very nosy and curious to see why she was going to enter the castle.
I tried very hard not to sound too rude, so I attempted to politely ask her what her business was upon entering the castle.
“Uh, well… Pardon me asking this, but…. Are you heading towards Hyrule Castle? Do you have special business?”
That one thought of why she was about to enter the castle still pondered in my mind. I still wished that I was able to enter the castle at my own will, but I suppose that is only a mere dream. Yet I was still eager to see why this mysterious figure with her glistening blue eyes was going to the Castle. In the bitter and gloomy rain her eyes were radiant and shone throughout all of the darkness of the rain. Her eyes sparkled with dignity and royalty, it began to make me take second thoughts of who this individual really was…

Holding my breath, I tried to think of a simple sensible excuse. Of course, it seems when I really require thinking hastily my brain denies me dignity. I breathed out fast, seeing my breath made it apparent that it was chilly outside. Still the iciness wasn't what I was trying to deal with.
"Ugh…" I stutter out meekly. "I do have commerce here. My father is the kin- I mean my fathers a knight, in the Hyrule army. I have visitation… purposes."
Standing up straight, I felt utterly offended nonetheless. Who did this girl think she was? Asking me if I could enter the castle or not! When did she get the permission to decide who enters the castle or not?
"Why is that you care?" I asked timidly.

I gradually nodded my head as I heard her answer. I suppose it was a bit rude of me to ask that, but I still sought to know why and I was glad that I got a response. I hoped that she didn’t think too low of me, just going out and confronting her like that. But I was just curious and I wanted to know why. Is that so horrible to ask?
“Well, I was just wondering. It’s just because not many common people are permitted to enter the Castle. It was just a bit unusual to me.”
I answered her back and I was at last satisfied that I got into someone else’s business, but I still felt a little unsure about her entering the castle.

I guess it was discourteous of me to respond to her the way I had, she was curious. I know if I saw someone clothed like me I would have thought the same. Currently, I needed to figure out a way to avoid her discovering who I was.
"I apologize for me being rude," I mumbled. "I guess I do look vulgar in this cloak."
Enough small talk Zelda, you really need to go. Sighing, I started to walk away. Hoping she wouldn't question me anymore. As I've said many times, the last thing I needed was my father finding out that I had snuck out of the castle.
Though, it seems the goddesses wanted this particular Zora to find out who I was. Immediately as I had turned back to distinguish if she was going to say anything else, the wind had brushed alongside the hood of the cloak and knocked it off my head.
Gasping, I stood there for a moment, contemplating on what I should do. Run, scream, or pretend I was invisible. Not doing anything was what seemed to be all I could do right now.

At that moment I realized that this figure was no average person. As her long, blonde and elegant hair revealed itself after her hood fell over, that is when I knew. It was no question that it was Zelda; I heard many stories of her appearance. She had soft, porcelain skin and shimmering blue eyes. And her hair confirmed my prediction that it was Princess Zelda. My eyes widened as I stared at this girl standing in front of me. She was no other than the Princess of Hyrule, Princess Zelda.
“You… you are….”
For a moment I was speechless. I had no idea what to say to her, I just stood there, astonished to be in her presence. It was only once before that I had met Princess Zelda. I was very young, and so was she. My father was taking care of business with the king, and I was able to come along with them. At the time, I didn’t know how significant of a time that truly was.
I wasn’t sure what she was about to do. Was she going to run or would she stay and talk with me? I myself wasn’t sure what I should do… so I stood there speech-impaired and remained where I was standing.

I knew I had gotten myself into a ghastly situation. At hand, nothing was left to say regarding it. If she spoke this to anyone word would travel, I would be deceased. Finally registering that if I kept my hood down more would identify me. Placing my pale fingers against the hood I pulled it over to cover my face.
To some extent I am afraid to speak, I stand for another few minutes. She recognized me and that was the foremost point. Was I to enlighten her I was on business… without guards or anything? That would be apparent I was lying.
"Princess Zelda," I completed for her as she stuttered in identification. I was debating if I should notify my father that a vicious man eating monster stole me from my room in the castle and tried to eat me in the middle of Hyrule Market, but then the rain made it melt! Sounded real to me, but then again my father wasn't the most gullible Hylian on the planet, which would be the reason he was the king.
"And you are?" I questioned antiquely. If I could find out her name I could threaten her not to say a word! Or maybe make light conversation, whichever it may be. It sounded reasonable at the moment.

I remained in place, still a bit stunned as I slowly replied to the true Princess Zelda.
“Ah, so it really is you. I am Princess Ruto of the Zoras. It is a great honor to meet you, Priness.”
I gestured a slight curtsy at her in all politeness and honor. I was so delighted and astonished to finally be meeting her, and I was even able to introduce myself!
I figured that she was sneaking out of the castle because she wore that cloak, and as soon as the hood fell off her head, she put it back on. She most likely didn’t want anyone to see her or she would be in a great deal of trouble. Perhaps if I kept quiet about meeting her out of the castle then maybe I could befriend her! That would be rather intriguing, being friends with the princess of Hyrule!
For now I didn’t say anything about her sneaking out, maybe she would just bring up the subject and I could act like I wouldn’t tell a soul.

Princess Ruto of the Zoras. I knew her voice was familiar. I bear in mind her coming to my castle for a appointment when she was younger. I always questioned my father why the Zora's were not permitted inside the castle, as they are royalty also, but then he would go off into a speech about Zora's having their own kingdom and we having ours. He confused me from time to time with his unreasonable decisions.
"Nice to meet you too Princess Ruto," I curtsied after her. "But let's not speak of Royal preferences at this moment. We don't need titles."
I wonder if her father let her out of his castle, as an alternative to locking her up. She seemed unnerved at the fact people would be looking at her, but it could be most are Hyrulean and Hylian in Hyrule Market. Then again word would get out a Zora was in town.
"May I ask what you are doing in town Ruto?" I pry; I am inquisitive.

I shook my head quickly and thought for a moment. Not even I exactly knew what my business was in the Hyrule market. It was just a gloomy day in the domain, so I decided to try something different and head out to the frantic streets of the market place. I didn’t exactly want to tell a figure of royalty that, so I decided to make up a quick excuse that sounded more proper than my own monotony.
“Uh, well my father sent me on a quick errand to pick up a few things at the Bazaar. That’s all”
I titled my head and slightly let out a nervous laugh, as if I didn’t know what I was talking about. For a moment I wondered what Zelda herself was doing out in the market. She could’ve left to wherever she pleased, but she remained confined in the streets of Hyrule. I know myself that I was allowed to leave my kingdom; my father did not care at all. But Zelda was a much more significant figure and definitely more important than me, so more people would be concerned about where she headed off to.
“So what exactly are you doing out here Zelda? No royal escort or anything?”
I tried to lead her on to telling me the truth of why she was sneaking out of the castle, because I could tell that was the obvious matter.

A few heads curved at the mention of my name. Gasping, I consider even if she didn't say Princess each person here recognized the name Zelda. No one was to be named after the Royal Princess Zelda without being a daughter or royalty.
Promptly, I walked over to the Princess Ruto and grabbed her arm. I wanted to drag her behind a building or someplace, somewhere absent from civilization. She was a Princess; she most likely will understand why I snuck out of the castle.
"Shhh," I hushed her. Pressing one of my manicured fingernails against my cherry lips. "Let's go to a private place."

“Oops! I am so sorry…..”
I suddenly realized how loud and obnoxious I was speaking and that people were beginning to gaze towards our direction and listen into our conversation. This would not be good if people saw Princess Zelda out of her house, so I quickly covered my mouth in shame and awkwardness. My eyes shifted around as I looked at the nearby crowds, who were whispering words to each other in suion. I then agreed with Zelda, and I decided to bring this discussion to a place where no one was around.
“Yes, let us go elsewhere. Talking out in the open like this is not a good idea.”
Although the Princess was grabbing my arm, I leaded her towards a vacant alleyway where no one really was around. The two of us quickly dashed over to the alley, which was empty and quiet with no people around. The only inhabitant that was in this alley was a friendly cat who wanted to be pet. This spot was perfect to speak with Princess Zelda in private. I looked around one last time to confirm that there were no people around, and at last we could finish our discussion.l

Staring at the stray kitten for a minute I remembered Ruto had asked me what I had been doing outside the castle. To be honest, I had no clue what had convinced me to go out. There was nothing to do or see. Basically, I was alone away from the castle. No friends or anyone to speak to.
Coughing into my hands, I stood up straight, "In my castle the rules are that I mustn't leave unless I am with my father. The King."
Rubbing my hands together to create warmth I gave a small sigh.
"My father or the kingdom don't understand what it is like to be locked up in the castle everyday of your life," I angrily muttered. "When I am older and married off I will still be locked up inside the castle because I am a woman. There is no respect these days."
Shifting my weight from foot to foot I quietly questioned the Princess, "Are you allowed out of your castle?"
