Ember staggered into the Graveyard's entrance during her flight her hair had come free and its long golden strands hung loose. The scarf which still covered her face and her hand was pressed to the slash across her waist in an attempt to stem the bleeding, the hunters had already discovered she was in Hyrule... She left a trail of scarlet drips wherever she staggered, her head felt light and dizziness kept taking over unless Ember stopped every few steps but she didn’t want to stop for long. Every now and then she lost her balance and grabbed onto a tombstone in an attempt to stay upright. Every step was getting harder; her pace was gradually slowing down, beads of sweat were appearing on Ember’s forehead and her breath was ragged and uneven.
‘No not now, please if there are Goddesses let me find somewhere safe’
Ember took a left and noticed the large royal tomb at the top of the hill. She pushed herself hard, barely stopping and leaving a scarlet trail up the worn stone steps. At last Ember made it to the top, almost dragging herself behind the tomb, she slumped against it, breathing hard.
'Why...Why can't they just leave me? It's not my fault.

Dark stretched his gloved hands and yawned as he sat up. He had just woken up from a nap in the graveyard. He usually slept here during the day, soaking up the murky darkness of the dead while the sun shone brightly on the rest of the world.
"It isn't quite dusk yet. I wonder what..." Dark blinked. Something had moved near the royal tomb. "Who would be visiting the graveyard at this late hour?" he muttered to him self. People tended to stay away from the graveyard lately. Rumors of frightening poes seemed to be coming more of a reality for them. Not that Dark hadn't helped those rumors along himself a time or two.
Then his other senses began to awaken. He could smell blood, and lots of it. Not only that, his shadowy heart could sense fear...great fear, edging its way towards despair.
Dark stood and adjusted his sword sheath so he could easily reach the handle of the Dark Master Sword. Curious and a bit thirsty for blood, he made his way towards the Royal Tomb.

Ember heard footsteps nearby, if the hunters had discovered her location she wouldn't be able to fight them like this! She felt weak from bloodloss, her head felt like too light and whenever she made a sudden movement the world kept dissolving in a swirl of colour. It couldn't happen this way, she had tried for three years and it felt like thirty.
'I have to carry on.'
She grasped Epiphany's hilt with a shaking hand and tensed, waiting for the footsteps to either get closer or further away. There was so much adrenaline in her system all her senses felt like they were tuned up despite feeling weak from bloodloss.

Dark stepped into the entrance of the tomb. His foot almost slid on something wet. Bending down, he examined the substance. Blood. Strange blood.
Now isn't this interesting. There's power in the blood. A strange power I have never encountered before.
Dark felt his skin tingling. He licked his lips with excitement. A new challenge was waiting for him in this tomb. Reaching back with his hand, he lazily drew his sword. The blade began to glow faintly, pulsing like a heartbeat.
The eerie blood light did little to illuminate the tomb, but Dark didn't mind the darkness. He could see just fine. With a wicked grin and a lazy stride, Dark turned the first corner of the tomb.

Ember realised those footsteps were just getting closer, she gritted her teeth to try and ride the waves of pain that kept coming over her. She forced herself to her feet and despite the world spinning around her held Epiphany out in front of her. Pointed at the blurry shape that was slowly coming into vision, she realised that her hands were shaking and it was a struggle to stand without support but she couldn't give up, not yet.
"Stay back."
Her voice was slightly hoarse when she spoke so her threat came out just louder than a whisper, she knew that she couldn't fight like this and for once wished that an attack would come even if there was a risk that the Phantasms finished her off as well.

Dark turned the corner and blinked again, his arrogant sneer wavering for just an instant. The creature before him looked Hylian, with the exception of dark wings. Moreover, Dark could sense a hollow darkness in her, yet it did not seem to corrupt her heart.
She is a strange one, this girl. Still, she is wounded. I doubt she would be much of a challenge.
Returning to his usual smug smirk, Dark rested the blade of his sword on his shoulder. "Stay back, you say? I don't see that you have any right to tell me what to do. Or could it be you're frightened of me?"

"I said stay back..."
Ember tried to stay rooted to the ground but could feel her knees buckling beneath her, Dark's gaze seemed to look right through her, piercing enough to look straight into her soul. She realised he was staring at her black wings, the feather caught the small amount of light that existed inside them tomb. Ember pulled them tight against her back, tucked on her either side of her spine.
'He knows I'm no match for him like this but I can't give up.'
There was no way to escape, when she had hidden inside the tomb she hadn't calculated a way out and cursed her own foolishness, if the stranger decided to use that sword this place would become her tomb as well.

Dark was enjoying the fear that seemed to be swirling around the girl. It had been a long time since he had felt such emotions from his prey. Confident that he had time to play, he bent down to the ground and dabbed two fingers in the blood that Ember had shed on the floor. He looked at the blood, his wicked grin fading from his face.
"I take little pleasure in slaughtering that which is already wounded. Where is the thrill of killing someone that is already half dead? As you are now, I would gain no strength in fighting you."
It was true. Dark would have preferred to battle her in her prime. Her strange powers made him very curious. But perhaps it was not meant to be. Dark licked the blood from his fingertips, and his smile returned.
"However, just because I can't enjoy killing you doesn't mean that I wont." He watched her carefully, wondering how she would respond.

Ember felt a stab of panic at Dark's words and felt vaguely sick as she saw him lick the traces of her blood off his fingertips. She felt her knees give way and she shot one hand out to the wall in an attempt to keep herself upright, it was getting harder. The wound hadn't ceased bleeding and her cloak was heavily stained.
"Kill me now and you're nothing but a coward."
She suprised herself with the strength in her voice and venom in her words as she kept her emerald gaze on Dark's. Her breathing was still heavy but she still refused to give in to unconciousness.

"A coward? What then would I be if I let you leave? A fool? What would I be if I were to wait here until you bled to death? A weakling? The dying cries of a wounded wolf hold no sway over me."
Dark was a bit disappointed, despite his taunting. Her fear seemed to be melting away. No doubt she was finding courage to face her end. Now things really were becoming dull.
There seems to be no point to dragging this out. Perhaps she can at least amuse me with her sword. The tomb is wide enough for combat, but I doubt she will be able to fly.
Dark was tempted to throw her an attack and see how she reacted, but he was afraid he might accidentally finish her off too quickly. He decided to tempt her resolve. Sword still leaning lazily against his shoulder, Dark took a step towards her.

Ember took a shaky step back still holding Epiphany in front of her, she knew if Dark decided to test her she would collapse, it was challange enough to stay upright and stationary let alone focusing on her swords skills as well as the movements of an enemy. He seemed to have no heart, soul or even fears...the Dreamscaper curse usually reacted when she came into contact with people and homed in on their fears but there was nothing, no reaction...was he even human?
"If you let me leave it would prove your humanity, I have no intention-"
Another stab of pain went though Ember and interrupted her, it was a moment before she got her breath back to carry on.
"I have no intention to die yet."

Dark stopped dead in his tracks. He lowered his sword until the tip touched the ground. The shadows now hid his face from view. When he spoke, it was in a low and toneless whisper.
"Humanity? I don't even know what that is. And you, a creature with wings on your back and evil swirling around your heart...you want to tell me what it means to have humanity? You think I want to be human?"
Dark looked up at her with cold dead eyes. "Your courage sickens me. To face your death as if you do not fear it...as if you can prevent death with your will alone..." He took another step towards her, dragging his sword blade lightly on the ground.

"I know that I cannot prevent death from my will alone but I can hold you back as long as I can, if my courage sickens you then there must be more darkness inside your soul that I first thought."
Ember may have wings upon her back and the curse of being a Dreamscaper inside her but she knew what it was to have a soul, to understand humanity! But still she felt weak and dropped to her knees, her body was giving up on her, she couldn't fight...

"You really have no idea what I am, do you? I suppose that makes us even."
Dark continued his slow pace towards her. She seemed so weak now, falling to her knees. She still gripped her sword, a sign that she still had no desire to give up.
With calm cold patience, Dark took a final step until he was within reach of her and waited. The tip of his sword blade rested inches from her knee.
"Show me then...how long you can fight death. Show me the power of one who has a complete soul."

Ember gritted her teeth and forced herself to her feet, she didn't know how long she would be able to keep this up especially if the wound didn't stop bleeding soon. It was either give in or fight and although fighting for three years had exhausted Ember, worn her down over time she still had no intention to give up. She gripped her sword so tightly that her knuckles turned white and although both hands were shaking she didn't drop it.
"Fine, it seems that the people I come across all want to fight me for some purpose that I don't understand. You say you're in-complete but how is that possible? What could have happened to make you that way?"
There was almost pity in Ember's voice as she said the word in-complete, it must feel like you were very alone and for a fleeting moment she felt sorry for the stranger although he had threatened her.
