Ruto listened intently to their story. In all of her years living in Hyrule, she had never heard a story like this. That is probably because Xaro said that no one was left alive to tell the story. This lady named Dreadwing seemed to be a dangerous threat, so Ruto tried to put out an idea to these two.
“Maybe you should inform Hyrule’s army. Then they could have her executed!,” Ruto suggested.
It was the only thing she could think of doing to try and help. If she is too dangerous to be cast out somewhere, then she should definitely be killed.

Xaro shrugged, "She's too powerful a sorceress."
An inhuman scream directed their attention to the upper part of the hill, where there was a single figure sitting there, head twitching. It sat there like a dog, as if ready to spring.
Shark glanced to Xaro, "A ghoul? Out here?"
"Crap, it sees us."

Their conversation was yet again interrupted, except this time it was more frightening. Ruto looked up the hill at the creature and her eyes widened. She usually only saw things like these at night, and that is why her father never let her out at night. At any moment it was going to head in their direction, but Ruto still remained in her spot motionless.
“What should we do?,” she asked.
She seemed helpless at this moment, not knowing at all what to do.

The ghoul is...was...Hylian, although the hair was dirty and caked with moss, one eye in one eye socket, and that one was moving frantically at an impossible pace, and huge talons on the feet and hands. It's clothing was tattered, and it had huge teeth. The thing itself was still decaying.
A couple more showed up, as if to even the odds. Then more showed up. It was an entire raiding party of those things!
Shark extended his arm fins to become like blades, "We stand our ground and fight. These things are too fast to outrun, horseback or otherwise."
Xaro's weapon materialized in a flash of golden light. It was a huge, gold-colored war axe that was so big that it needed to be held with both hands. The butt of the axe was decorated to look like the hyrulean phoenix holding the triforce. The axe head itself was decorated in white runes. In the shaft was an engraving in ancient Hylian that spelt only one word..."Devastation".
Even the dodongo spun around, ready to fight.

Ruto looked at the two, who were in their battle stance ready to attack these freakish foes. She herself didn’t have any weapons to use, so there really was no way for her to assist these two in their fight. I’m sure these two can handle it!, she thought to herself.
She was a Princess, anyway. She really shouldn’t have to ‘fight’ in battles. Ruto just felt lucky that she met these two when she did, or else she would’ve been in trouble if she encountered these ghouls by herself. Powerless and vulnerable is how she felt. This was not a good impression for these two that she just met.
Nonetheless, she clasped her hands together as if to perceive an innocent maiden who needed protection. That was all she could really do at this time.
“This looks bad,” Ruto whimpered. She tried to sound concerned for the two of them, so that they knew she cared about them.

Xaro put Ruto on top of the Dodongo, giving her a huge view of what was happening.
"Use Duldon to burn the ghouls. They burn just as easily as zoras, no offense to you or to you, Shark."
"None taken, now let's have them stay dead!"
The creatures took that as a challenge, and charged, easily covering the huge gap between them. A few went down by that enormous axe, and another few went down by Shark's dance-like moves.
A couple were running around in circles up in flames, thanks to Duldon's fire breath.

As Ruto sat on top of the Dodongo named Duldon, she watched the two fight off the ghouls. She also had to hold on to the dodongo tightly or else she would fall off! Ruto watched as some of the ghouls disappeared when they fought them.
It started getting a little hot from the dodongo’s flames, but Ruto could handle it. She just felt a little dizzy after a while. Her eyesight looked a little blurry, so she rubbed her eyes trying to make sure she could be aware of everything that was going on.
She didn’t say anything, but she continued to watch closely.

Shark suddenly exploded with electricity, sending one ghoul flying in pieces. He turned to the rest, "That should be the last of them."
A ghoul leaped up from behind Xaro, but the dodongo had other plans. The ghoul found itself in the belly of Duldon, the carrion-eating dodongo.
"Good thinking, Duldon! So you know...you might get indigestion like last time..."
Duldon just burped in response.

Ruto giggled at the dodongo who just finished his little meal. The fight was at last over, so she hopped off the dodongo and brushed herself off. She then pet Duldon to show her thanks towards him.
“Wow! You guys got rid of all of them! Pretty impressive.”
She smirked and put her hands on her hips. Ruto didn’t want to sound too cocky, because she didn’t even do anything herself. But oh well, she was the damsel in distress in this scenario.

"They get worse."
Xaro put his axe down, and Shark retracted his fins. The zora nodded in response, "They do. I've seen the stronger ones. Not pretty."
They relaxed their stances, knowing that more will not come this time. The hylian moved some purple hair out of his eyes, "That was just a raiding party. Imagine an army of those...things..."
Shark nodded, "Let's go to the Lake. I want to get this blood off me." He was indeed covered in ghoul blood, which was thick and black, like thickened ink.

Ruto nodded back at Shark, “Alright. Lets go.”
She began to wonder for a moment, an army of those hideous ghouls? How could they be able to fight off all of those? Ruto shivered at the thought of it. Hyrule Field was truly not a safe place to be wandering around defenseless. She didn’t know what she was thinking when she left the domain. Yes, she was angered at her father, but she should’ve gone somewhere safer such as the Hyrule Market.
Her father by now is probably wondering where she is, but she did not care. Ruto was still angry at him, so she decided that she will stay with these two for a while instead of going back to that irritating place.

Xaro mounted up on the dodongo, and so did Shark, pulling Ruto up for the ride. The hylian shrieked something, and the dodongo plowed forward, storming forward toward Lake Hylia as an impressive speed.
Duldon was like a huge, scaly, armored horse.

As the three of them gracefully traveled to Lake Hylia, Ruto enjoyed the view of the rest of Hyrule while mountd on the back of this dodongo. She hoped that when they at last arrived to the Lake that Ruto would not see any Zoras from home visiting the Lake at all. If they did encounter another Zora, this Zora would most likely tell the whole Zora kingdom of what I am doing, and that would not go well at all with father. Ruto just hoped to herself that everything will go smoothly once they make it to Lake Hylia.

They made it to the lake unseen by other Zoras, and Shark was the first one in the water. Xaro dismounted, pulling Ruto off the big lizard. That didn't take too long.
"If anybody sees you, Shark will cover you. He knows more about this stuff than I do."
Shark resurfaced at that moment, cleaned off from the ink-like blood. He must've heard him in the water.
"I'll just say I'm your bodyguard. Sound fair?"
He looked the part, more definitely.

Ruto nodded her head, “Okay. Thank you so much!”
She was very appreciative of the two helping her, and she really wished there was something she could do for them in return.
Ruto walked over to the lake and sat along the edge of the land. She just let her feet sit in the water for now, she didn’t really decide if she was going to go in or not. The lake was a peaceful place to be with her two new friends and away from her home. All the stress that she suffered in her kingdom was just too much for her to handle, and now she was finally away from that.
