Of Shadows And Mirrors (Epona, open)

I sit on the grass beneith the shade of a large tree and gaze out over the land of Hyrule. Strange thoughts have been on my mind lately, thoughts about Link and power.

Well, in and of themselves these are normal things. My mind is usually dwelling on one thought: grow stronger to defeat Link. But lately, I've been wondering. Where does Link actually get his strength from? Is there something about the power of goodness that makes it stronger? Is it a power that I could use?

Such thoughts...are they really my own? My eyes continue to gaze over the fields, squinting whenever the sun peeks out from behind a cloud.

[Epona]

It was a beautiful day in the great kingdom of Hyrule! A very mild breeze brushed throw the lush green grass and not one fluff of a cloud filled the sky. A day like this deserves a good run through Hyrule Field.

I left Lon Lon Ranch with great speed. I was so excited to get out and run! I haven't seen a day like this in quite a while. When I entered Hyrule territory, I galloped toward a little hill and on top of that little hill was a fairly large Hyrulian tree. Those trees are greatly known for their ruby, red apples. So as I drew near it, in my sight came a young swordsman. He resembled Link greatly, but I sensed this fellow wasn't my master. So I just did what I am known to do, walk over to the swordsman and gave him a big, wet kiss showing innocence and affection.

"Eeeuuuurrrrrgggghhhh!" I yell in surprise, so lost in thought that I didn't notice the horse trotting toward me until he gave me a horse-kiss. I leap to my feet and wipe my face with my sleeve angrily. Murderously, I look for the creature that did this to me...

...but when I see Epona, a memory not my own flashes in my mind. I feel the wind blowing, see the grass racing by. A freedom unlike any I have ever truly felt fills me.

The sensations are so foreign that I stare dumbfounded at the creature. Undoubtedly the memory was Links, and that normally drove my blood-lust into overdrive. Yet the emotions from the memory were so bizarre that I could not help but wonder what it would be like to experience them for myself.

Shaking my head to regain my senses, I reach out toward the horse. My teeth are gritted and my eyes flash dangerously as I watch the horse for any signs of danger, but my hand moves with slow and gentle grace.

[Epona]

What's up with this guy? I thought to myself. The face he gave me after my li'l surprise worried me. He at first looked as if his lost or confused. . . Ehh, my only concern was that maybe he'll stop petting. I smiled sweetly showing enjoyment so he wouldn't stop. I'm so greedy.

Within his strokes, I could sense much hatred and evil, but his gentle petting covered it up greatly. I knew though I had to stay on my toes. . . hooves, because this guy is very mysterious and my turn his emotions like light switch. He can be on or off. Only one way to find out. . . I grabbed his hat and took off in a lighting gallop. Then quickly turned around looking back to see what he'd do.

"You...what...why..." I sputter angrily, my mind finding it difficult to comprehend what just happened. My body tenses to charge, but I hold still. My mind is painfully aware of the sunlight that will strike at me should I emerge from the shadows.

It doesn't last long as I give into my emotions after only a moment's hessitation. "Give me back my hat, horse!" I charge forward, squinting in the bright sunlight.

[Epona]

He seemed to be having troubles running in light. So I felt that I had to give his hat back before he hurts himself.

The horse stops, and I try to slow down. However, the light is already getting to me, and I end up tripping, landing squarely on my face.

[Epona]

Poor guy fell flat on his face. . . I couldn't help but laugh inside. I grabbed him by the back of his shirt to lift him back on his feet then nudge him in an attempt to give back his hat. Maybe his hat will knock some sense back into this poor guy.

Angry at being made a fool of, I snatch my hat back and wipe it clean. Then I place it back on my head and storm off toward the shade of the trees.

[Epona]

I like this guy! He hates being humiliated. That's the kind of people I like to mess with.

As he marches to the shaded tree, I ran up next to him then nudge his sholder then ran a distance then turned around to see if he'd chance me like we were playing tag.

I growl with irritation when the horse nudges me. I reach back for my boomerang, intending to stun you with it. Then I notice that the path towards you is shaded by the trees. With a cold grin, I dash towards you.

[Epona]

WOAH!! I honestly did not see this coming. So I stood there like an idoit that knows they can move but refuses to. But then he drew closer and closer untill I collected my sense and made a run for it toward the tree.

The tips of my fingers just barely miss the horse as he suddenly takes off. Refusing to lose, I push myself even harder, determined to catch him.

[Epona]

I turned away from the tree and stood my ground. The silly, yet scarey looking, man charged with all of his might. I was ready for him. I began to count down in my head. . .

3. . . 2. . . 1. . .

Then I jumped to the side of his path. My plan was if I made him determined enough to cathc me, I'd trick him into running into the tree. A classic, I know.

I was up, searching for Epona. Link had lost her. I was so angry with him. I heard the hoofs hit the ground. I knew it was Epona. I took off running until I saw a Epona's figure and...Link's? I soon relized it was Darkie-Chan. Not sure if he liked the name, but oh well. I stepped on forth, expecting to catch up.
"Epona, dear! It's time for your wash up!"
I hoped I hadn't bothered them, but it was too late.
